Quality Check Your Website using W3C

There are lots of web development tools and even more companies who produce websites. So with SEO rankings, do I or don't I use flash, plus all the conflicting advice available, how do you check how good your website is or how good the websites of your website company are?

Two very simple tests you can complete on any website are available from W3C, W3C is the World Wide Web Consortium. Follow the link to read more about their work. They describe themselves as follows:

"The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is an international community where Member organisations, a full-time staff, and the public work together to develop Web standards. Led by Web inventor Tim Berners-Lee and CEO Jeffrey Jaffe, W3C's mission is to lead the Web to its full potential. Contact W3C for more information."

W3C offer two tools which you can use simply by entering the URL of the website you wish to check. The first tool checks the site's HTML code i.e. the code that is used to display the website and to provide information to search engines about the content of the site.

The HTML code check can be found at: validator.w3.org/

The second validates the CSS script which is used to style the website and can be found at: jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/

These are both excellent starting points to judge how your site will be dealt with on the internet. Needless to say cleartarn tests all of its websites using these and other tools to ensure their quality, speed of loading and to ensure that they contain the correct information for search engines.
